This made my dad and I closer My dad came over for dinner for the first time. I showed him this new knife and he said it was pretty cool, but how s it cut. Well let me tell you if there s one thing my dad likes, it s a whole chicken broken down into eight pieces. This knife cut through it with no problem, and my dad giggled with delight when I playfully tossed the wishbone at him. He said that was nice, but what about the veggies? Well let me tell you again, this baby let me chop up six carrots in about a minute, then I scooped them upright onto the blade and moved them to the pot. Same with the potatoes--this baby made them a dream. Now my dad says he can t get enough of that finger-licking good chicken and he asked me what s my secret? Well, dad, it s the knife. Decent Knife - Excellent Value: Before I go further, this replaces knife that I have used every day for 30 years or so. I use a whetstone regularly and keep my knives very sharp. Any difference in feel creates an issue for me; something that will take time to get used to.On the plus side this knife is very good value. it seems to be well constructed of very good steel. The dry handle has a great feel to it. Beautiful handle, super sharp! This knife is NOT A joke, it s not an overly light knife, it has some pretty good weight to it.I love that this comes super sharp, the last thing I love is sharpening knives. Actually, I hate it.This is also going to be easy to sharpen when I do have too get some oomph on it, bit I don t see that happening anytime soon.This is NOT made with cheap metal, but with super solid stainless steel, right down to the hardware in the handle.This is what I am grabbing for when I need to cut and or dice meat, which I buy in bulk and unfortunately have to separate myself and bag up to freeze.The handle is BEAUTIFUL as well!2 years ago

Very nicely weighted when held properly! Super happy with the knife. Very sturdy and sharp, cuts meat without any effort. Love it s good quality scabbard. I have been on the hunt for a good kitchen knife for years. I decided to let fate take over and ordered this knife without seeing in person. I have nerve damage in my dominant hand so holding things can be difficult if they don t sit right. I am thrilled that this is my dream knife. Its not heavy or oddly balanced for me. Really impressed with the craftsmanship and design! Given the price, I did not expect to like this knife at much as I do. Right out of the box it was sharp enough to slice through tomatoes easily. This knife was factory sharp out of the box. I was mincing some ginger amateurishly and ended up mincing a quarter inch of my fingertip off. 10/10 would buy this knife again because of how easy it was to mince. If you re an amateur like me, I highly recommend buying some cut-resistant gloves to practice with. $20 worth of gloves is far more valuable than losing a finger tip. On the note you do lose your fingertip, I recommend buying some hemostat gauze pads (stops the bleeding), tissue adhesive (keeps the fingertip-less finger protected), and a finger gauze wrap (hide your unsightly finger) to avoid a trip to the ER. If you can t deal with throbbing pain, some ibuprofen can also help. One person found this helpful4 years ago

My family and I have history when it comes to dull knives. Despite buying a brand new knife, it s dull within a matter of a few days and constantly sharpening it can be a hassle. However, we need a knife to make our food as we eat a lot of meats and hard vegetables like ginger, turnips, etc. I decided to buy this knife because of the good reviews, and WOW! I love how the handle is smooth and melds into your palm, quite comfortable to hold! I used it for the first time to cut frozen meat, and usually my hands starts to ache within the first couple of minutes, but surprisingly, I didn t experience any pain so far with this knife. The blade really is sharp because it just glided through our tomatoes and pineapples. No extra effort had to be put in for this knife to do its job. I recommend this knife to all who cook!5 years ago

Extremely Sharp with good handle :This is the first chef knife with pakkawood handle that I ve ever had. I looked up online what a pakkawood is before buying this, and pakkawood is handmade that makes for a strong and ultra-durable material. The knife handle looks quite vintage as it seems to be made of "real wood".The pakkawood is more durable but share the same look of real wood. I always focus on the durability of the blade and handle material of a knife as I want my knife can be used for dozens of years.would recommended.5 years ago

Gorgeous chef knife : All over the knives is absolutely Gorgeous and cut amazingly. The pictures do not do these knives justice. The steel and handle are so pretty and intricate. You do not even need to put any pressure on the blade for it to smoothly slice through anything. it is simply a gorgeous piece of steel. Well balanced, great handle feed. Surgically sharp. Extremely beautiful and functional but I m kinda disappointed. After a few months the label on the blade is starting to wear off. Other wise I highly recommend it.5 years ago

I have had two of these knives (for 2 and 3 years in two different kitchens). They are the most useful knives I have ever owned. They re sharp, and they stay sharp. The wood handle is really attractive and has stayed new-looking despite a lot of use and cleaning. This and a bread knife are all I need. It s got a good heft for chopping, and its large size is perfect for this as well. I don t see any reason to pay more or buy a different knife. A great purchase.6 years ago

My new favorite chef knife! The weight of the knife will cut through chicken breast. Very sharp, and no imperfections upon initial inspection. Have only used the knife a handful of times but I like it alot. Its a hard metal, and so far so good. Time will tell how this hold up.
