Fantastic for the price Fantastic knife! Good weight. Nice handling. Very sharp and keeps a good edge so far. I have not honed or sharpened it yet. I keep a brush with oil on hand to lightly brush it with oil to keep it from rusting. Sure to last as far as I can see. It s leather sheath is very durable. The only small problem with the sheath is that the knife catches a bit on the snap that it has when drawing it. So far the best cleaver I have used. Well worth every penny. This knife was factory sharp out of the box. I was mincing some ginger amateurishly and ended up mincing a quarter inch of my fingertip off. 10/10 would buy this knife again because of how easy it was to mince. If you re an amateur like me, I highly recommend buying some cut-resistant gloves to practice with. $20 worth of gloves is far more valuable than losing a finger tip. On the note you do lose your fingertip, I recommend buying some hemostat gauze pads (stops the bleeding), tissue adhesive (keeps the fingertip-less finger protected), and a finger gauze wrap (hide your unsightly finger) to avoid a trip to the ER. Overall this knife is not bad for the price. It does come in a nice gift box.. It is definitely sharp at first, but after a couple weeks of use, I had to sharpen it. Ever since then I sharpen pretty often. Also, the tip is very thin. Mine chipped after weeks of use. With that said, it’s not not a bad knife! But it’s not a chefs knife. My family and I have history when it comes to dull knives. Despite buying a brand new knife, it s dull within a matter of a few days and constantly sharpening it can be a hassle. I looked up online what a pakkawood is before buying this, and pakkawood is handmade that makes for a strong and ultra-durable material. Gorgeous chef knife : All over the knives is absolutely Gorgeous and cut amazingly. The pictures do not do these knives justice. The steel and handle are so pretty and intricate. You do not even need to put any pressure on the blade for it to smoothly slice through anything. it is simply a gorgeous piece of steel. Well balanced, great handle feed. Surgically sharp. I have had two of these knives (for 2 and 3 years in two different kitchens). They are the most useful knives I have ever owned. They re sharp, and they stay sharp. The wood handle is really attractive and has stayed new-looking despite a lot of use and cleaning. This and a bread knife are all I need. Beautiful and super sharp This knife is great. It looks beautiful and I can 100% confirm is hella sharp. I was able to test this theory in less than 10 minutes by almost slicing half of my finger off while cutting an onion. I would definitely recommend this knife to anyone who has any basic skill with knives; BUT if you re the kind of person whose mother preferred to clean the chinaware all by herself before letting you hold one of her plates, you may be MY kind of person and you should get one of those gloves that protect fingers and stuff before using this obviously quality made blade.5 years ago

Just what I needed. This is a great knife. First task out of the box was to split an oven roaster chicken. Did this with ease. The knife has a nice weight (and razor edge) and when right through the chicken bones. The very next task was to finely chop fresh herbs for said chicken...again excellent control. The handle is well attached and the black patina from the heat treatment gives the knife an old world look. My family raises and butchers chicken and beef. This knife will get a workout. I know it s cheap, but it compares very favorably to the similarly priced Victorinox Fibrox, which I ve had for years. Sharper than the Vic for now at least. I keep it from staying wet very long due to the carbon content, and so far no rusting and it s staying very, very sharp with just honing. I wouldn t use it for abusive use like bones, but for fine veggie chopping and especially tomatoes, it s the best knife I ve used.5 years ago

Great everday knife for kitchen I ve used this knife on multiple items so far. It cut raw chicken & meats very easily for me. There was no sawing required like some of my other knives. The size is perfect to make it a versatile tool in the kitchen. The knife is hand washed and dried. I have had no issues with this knife and it seems like it will be a sturdy knife for everyday use. Excellent blade:The first thing you ll notice when you pick up this knife is how great it feels to hold. The ergonomics of the handle are superb. The second thing you ll notice is how light it is. Most premium knives use a thicker blade stock and denser handle materials, but this blade is thin and the handle a medium density plastic. For my taste, it s perfect. I own a few nicer knives and they all weigh meaningfully more than this one, but this is the one I reach for when I have some serious cutting to do. Great addition to the kitchen tool box. This is a great addition for someone looking for a meat trimmer and dicer. I primarily use it to trim the fat off of beef or pork roasts and chicken. Wow - What A Knife! I ve never had a chef s knife before and this seems like a very good one. It s well balanced and feels good in the hand. The handle is made of wood and feels very comfortable as you hold it. It comes in a nice presentation box and it has a slip-on guard that covers the entire sharp edge. I assumed the hammered design on the sides was simply for looks, but it also serves to shed the cut food as you cut through thicker things - a nice touch. The blade is made of carbon steel, a preferred material for knives. The proof is in the cutting, of course, and I first tested it by slicing through a sheet of paper as I held it and it made nice clean cuts. Then I progressed to steaks, onions, and cucumbers. It made quick work of them. The blade is very sharp and the weight works for chopping as well as slicing. I ll be using this one frequently for a long time.6 years ago

I was shocked at how nice this chef s knife is based on it s cost. It is perfectly balanced, the handle is made of a luxurious and finely finished wood that is beautiful and it cuts like a champ. I have owned much more expensive knives that were not as balanced in the hand, not as well finished and didn t come with a beautiful handle. I would recommend this to anyone on a budget who appreciates quality. Beats the low end JA Henckels and Whustoffs by a mile. I don t know how they produce such a nice piece for so little money. Sharp (ouch) We really like this bread knife, it slices through bread like a serrated knife through cooked dough products. Seriously though it’s pretty sharp and the wife and I have both cut ourselves while slicing bagels (because we hold the bagels like idiots). Impressive value for a quality knifeI purchased this for my man who is a chef. As some of you may know, chefs are very particular about their knives, and even though he wasn t looking for the best knife out there, it had to fit a number of must-haves . it had to have a wood handle, it had to be made of Good Steel, and it had to be simple in perfect design. I m happy to say that the chef knife exceeded his expectations! The packaging was really well done and extra consideration was made to keep the blade safe and secure. A handy wipe cloth was also provided in the box, though I am told chefs don t really use it. General comments from the chef is that the knife itself is well balanced and well-made, the blade is extremely sharp and has held its edge over the past month while being used daily, and the handle is surprisingly really comfortable. Shaves right out of the box. This blade shaved my arm straight out of the box. I successfully used this heavy blade to process several large hogs an two deer. I have not had to sharpen it yet. It s a slicer and a chopper. Glad I bought it.7 years ago

Surprisingly Sharp I am impressed with how sharp this knife is! I can shave with the edge. Time will tell how long and how well it holds that edge, but so far so good. It s well-weighted, handles easily, and is more versatile than I had expected. Definitely one to keep in mind if you re looking for a good knife at a great price!7 years ago

Amazing Looking Knife This knife is a thing of beauty. I ordered it for my kitchen although it really looks like it would be best used for camping and outdoor activities. This full tang knife has an attractive wood handle. The blade is thick and heavy. The top of part of the blade is textured which looks amazing. This knife comes with a sheath. Although this knife is sharp, I will sharpen it some more as it s not as sharp as I prefer. Since I ordered this for my kitchen, I m using this knife in my kitchen. I ve used this knife to cut an acorn squash which is a tough task for any knife. The heft of the blade turned out to be helpful in cutting through the thick skin although care was needed because it was not easy to do. The thick blade plus how this knife is balanced was helpful in cutting through the squash s skin. I liked using this knife more than a larger, thinner, and sharper knife I also tried for comparison. My rating is 5 stars because I can t get over how this knife looks and feels in my hand.7 years ago

Excellent chef knife for the price I m impressed with this chef knife, especially for the price. It is beautiful and practical. It has a good weight to it and feels well balanced in my hand. The quality of the steel seems to be very good. It is razor-sharp out of the box and has good edge retention as well. The hammering pattern on the blade is attractive and helps with food release too. I appreciate the black oxide finish, which serves well to highlight the contrast on the blade. The wooden handle is beautiful and comfortable to grip. It is great as a gift or for your kitchen. Overall, I m very satisfied with it. It is an excellent chef knife at a budget price. Highly recommended.7 years ago

This knife is with excellent craftsmanship and is extremely sharp. Perfect for slicing/dicing veggies, great for slicing through a watermelon, cantaloupe, etc., and for cutting whole chicken for frying. just be careful...this knife is super sharp, I purchased it from Almazan Knives.
